This is my interpretation of neurons and synapses at work in the human brain.

This image was recently accepted into the SLCC Presidents Art show at the Utah Museum of Art and History and will be on display through the end of February 2007.

It started as a model for a training Illustration, I really loved the shape of it but it was to exaggerated to be used for training, so I created something a bit more personal and exciting with it for myself.

Hope you like it.

This is an image I did while doing some material tests with the new Mental Ray materials in MAX. I have some images that where taken by a professional photographer that I tried to match lighting and placement just to see how realistically the materials and lighting would look. This matches the photograph fairly well I think. The model is a little different but the lighting and materials match pretty well. Here is a link to the photo for comparison http://www.burgoynedesign.com/art/SaltFlats1.jpg.

I used the Mental Ray daylight system with the physical sky shader, MR car paint shader and Arch&Design materials for the rest. The little mountain n the background was just taken out of the photo and placed in the render using Photoshop.

The Rollover

I did this illustration to go on a poster to promote safe driving at C.R. England. It was done to advertise there monthly safety meeting on rollover prevention. It shows a tractor trailer at the moment it is about to rollover on its side. I am trying to say lets stop this before it gets to this point. I used a dark gloomy sky to give a sense of impending doom.

This was taken from a frame of animation from the safety meeting that I did as well. I just rendered it out at a higher resolution and used Photoshop to add a punch more realism.
Most of them were used to illustrate driving techniques. I had to sacrifice some of the background details because of the extreme deadlines involved (usually two to three days).
